Violent clashes took place on Saturday afternoon in the Seberbay village, Gharbiya when the villagers protested the construction of a tunnel that they say does not meet the proper specifications.
The clashes resulted in the injury of four, including a soldier of the security forces, and the destruction of an armored vehicle.
Police arrested five villagers and fired tear gas to disperse the protesters.
The villagers say the tunnel, which connects the neighboring villages, is four meters wide, whereas it should be eight meters wide, which is too narrow for them to use their cars. They would have to use the highway, which puts their lives at risk.
