Winter smoothies

In the spirit of the advised breakfast metabolism booster from one of your easiest breakfast options can be a smoothie. Fruit and yoghurt filled–full of energy and a great substitute for coffee in your car mug (probably without the top)–your smoothie can be the first step to a healthier (and fitter) way of life.

A few smoothie recipes lay ahead–winter themed in that they boost immunity with vitamin c and pineapple’s Bromelain, an enzyme that clears up congestion and has cough suppressing powers! You will find these smoothies are filled with Egyptian winter available fruits. Happy slurping!

Pineapple banana yoghurt smoothie (for 2)

The night before preparation, fill an ice cube tray with half pineapple, half orange juice and allow to freeze over night.

Ingredients:

6 pineapple ice cubes

6 orange ice cubes

½ cup pineapple juice

½ cup orange juice

½ banana (eat the other half while you’re working!)

1 plain yoghurt

1 teaspoon honey

Cinnamon (optional)

Directions:

1.       Blend banana, yoghurt, honey and cinnamon.

2.       Rinse blender, toss in pineapple and orange cubes and pineapple and orange juice. Blend till smooth.

3.       In your choice drinking cup, pour a little pine-orange slush, the entire yoghurt banana mixture and then top with the remainder of the pine-orange slush.

Pineapple buttermilk smoothie (for 2)

Ingredients:

20 oz pineapple chunks (freeze overnight)

½ cup pineapple juice

1 cup buttermilk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Mint leaves

2 teaspoons liquid sugar

Directions:

1.       Blend frozen pineapple chunks, pineapple juice, buttermilk, vanilla and liquid sugar ina  blender – top with mint leaves if you wish!
