Cairo security services are searching for suspects in the break-in of former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly’s attorney’s office.

Attorney Issam al-Batawy discovered Wednesday morning that his Heliopolis office had been robbed, but did not accuse anyone in the incident, only saying that the break-in was planned by “certain people” who could be discerned based on which files disappeared from his office.

Batawy said that all case files and documents relating to Habib al-Adly were stolen, including a laptop containing files that would be used during Adly’s appeal against his life sentence for failing to prevent the killing of protesters during the 25 January revolution.

The Court of Cassation would begin hearing Adly and former President Hosni Mubarak’s appeal against their convictions on 23 December.
