Hala Lotfy's "Coming Forth by Day" received the Golden Wahr Award for the best feature film at the 6th Wahran Arab Film Festival, held at the Algerian city of Wahran.

Lotfy's debut feature-length film, which had its world premiere at the 2012 Abu Dhabi Film Festival and won the Best Director from the Arab World Award, narrates the story of a poor family living in a working class neighborhood in Cairo. The mother, married to a physically disabled husband, works as a nurse. Their 30-year-old daughter faces problems expressing her dreams. She has nothing to do except caring for her father.

Twelve feature films from across the Arab world took part in this year's edition of the festival, which coincided with the celebrations of Algeria's 50th anniversary of independence. Algerian researcher Melyani al-Hajj headed the feature films jury committee, while the jury of the short films category — in which 14 works competed — was headed by Algerian actor Mones Khammar.
