In its campaign for its presidential candidate, the Freedom and Justice Party wrote on its Facebook page that football star Mohamed Abu Treika supports Mohamed Morsy in the elections.

The page posted pictures of Abu Treika and Morsy, and added a caption saying the football star is for the “Renaissance” project that the party has adopted.

Responses and comments varied between support and opposition.

Abu Treika has thereby joined a list of other players who support Morsy, including Rabie Yassin, Hadi Khashaba, Gamal Abdel Hamid, Hamza al-Gamal, Mohamed Amer and Mohamed Ramadan.

Abu Treika had earlier declined to announce the candidate he supports so as not to influence public opinion.
