FJP outlines project for Egyptian ‘renaissance’

An official with the Freedom and Justice Party, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, said it will continue with its plan for Egypt’s recovery although its candidate Khairat al-Shater was barred from presidential race.

A member of the committee supervising the project inside the party, Jihad al-Haddad, said before the court ruling was issued by the Presidential Elections Commission that the project continues.

"The final features of the project are finished and the plan will be issued by the party soon after changes demanded by the party were added."

The project, which Al-Masry Al-Youm obtained, has four phases: the first lasts for 100 days and will be dedicated to countering the shortage in basic materials and solving the urgent crises. The second phase, rehabilitation, lasts until 2014 and includes mechanisms for dealing with inherent problems from the ousted regime, including sectarian problems, slums and abject poverty.

The third phase is construction and employment. It begins in 2016 and lasts for five years until infrastructure is built. The fourth phase is to be achieved by 2025 and marks the start of the renaissance within society.

The project includes five pillars: politics, society, education, economics, and security. The political portion aims at the peaceful transfer of power, establishing the rule of law, respect for human rights, and building institutions capable of developing Egypt.

Regarding security, the program aims to restructure the Interior Ministry and issue a new law for governing the police. The economic aspect seeks to preserve and employ the country’s resources, support the private sector, develop small projects, and train and export Egyptian labor.
