The Salafi-oriented Nour Party has announced the end of disputes within Egypt's constitutional amendment committee relating to Sharia articles.
The announcement comes after members of the committee agreed to explain the term "Islamic Sharia principles."
It will also state that legislator should resort to fundamentals that preserve Sharia.
Yasser Borhamy, vice-chief of the Salafi Dawa, said it has been agreed to stick to a constitutional court explanation of the word "principles" laid out in the court's provisions issued in 1985, 1996 and 2002. Borhamy added that an agreement had been reached with Al-Azhar to make reference to Islamic Sharia rather than "provisions of the Sunnis."
Borhamy told Al-Masry Al-Youm that his party called for including the explanation within the second article rather than being put at the end.
Agreement over articles of identity and Sharia will enhance chances to agree on constitutional amendments, he added.
