Authorities decided to close the Rafah border crossing for five days starting Friday for Eid al-Fitr, a border crossing source said Thursday.

"Work will resume next Wednesday morning according to the new running regulations. [The crossing] will be open for humanitarian cases and for pilgrims coming from the Saudi territories," the source said.

Egyptian authorities close the crossing every Friday, on holidays and for official vacations.
