Hamada Nassar, a Jama'a al-Islamiya spokesperson, has claimed that the military council tricked the people with the referendum on the Constitutional Declaration by luring people to vote in support of Article 2 of the Constitution on the pretext that there were attempts to tamper with it.
"We have discovered it too late,"he said.
Nassar also said the military council, supported by judges who are remnants of the former regime, managed to pass Article 28, which states that the Presidential Elections Commission's decisions cannot be appealed, in order to manipulate the elections and dissolve Parliament at any moment with a decision from the Constitutional Court.
"The state supports Shafiq and helped him reach the runoff," he said in a statement on Sunday. "This brings hope to the remnants of the dissolved National Democratic Party who had faded after the revolution."
