Top prosecutor orders investigation into Mansoura deaths

Public Prosecutor Hesham Barakat has ordered an investigation into Friday clashes that left at least three women dead in Mansoura.

Violence erupted between supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy and unknown attackers.

Three women were killed, according to the Health Ministry.

Barakat also instructed the Interior Ministry to launch investigations and arrest those responsible for violence.

A team of prosecutors has been assigned to question eight people injured during the clashes.

They will also inspect the bodies of the deceased and request forensic doctors ascertain the causes of death.

The prosecution, according to Barakat, is determined to conduct unbiased investigations to reach the truth and bring criminals to justice.

Judicial officials called on anyone with information to testify during legal proceedings.

On Saturday, Egypt's Health Ministry said clashes left three victims dead and eight injured. 26 others were wounded on Friday during clashes between residents and Morsy supporters in Cairo, Giza, Gharbiya, Daqahlia and Qena.
