Trial of national council fund thieves adjourned

The Cairo Criminal Court adjourned on Saturday the trial of 37 suspects accused of appropriating funds from the National Council for the Care of the Injured and the Families of the Martyrs of the Revolution until 27 May for pleading.

The suspects were accused of stealing the funds through the use of fake medical reports between 2011-2013. The reports were issued from government hospitals, so the suspects were able to obtain financial compensation from the government which was supposed to go to families of the victims and the injured of the 25 January revolution.

The revolution resulted in more than 800 deaths in the form of protests that unseated Mubarak after nearly 30 years of rule.
