137 suspects in US Embassy clashes released

The Qasr al-Nil Misdemeanor Court on Tuesday released pending investigation 137 suspects in the September US Embassy clashes.

Thirty-five were released without bail, while 102 others were released on LE200 bail.

A number of the suspects’ relatives gathered outside the court as security forces imposed a cordon around the area.

The suspects are accused of illegal assembly, bullying, the deliberate destruction of public and private property, and assaulting a public official while carrying out his duties. The prosecutor has also accused them of using bladed weapons and throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at the police in an attempt to storm the US Embassy.
