3 extremists killed, 13 hotbeds destroyed in North Sinai crackdown

The armed forces killed three alleged extremists and destroyed 13 alleged terrorist shelters in a crackdown in south Sheikh Zuwaid, according to security sources.
 
The operation targeted south Sheikh Zuwaid and Rafah. Five houses, and eight huts allegedly used by militants against the police and armed forces were destroyed, said the sources.
 
North Sinai has become a hotbed for militant activity since the ouster of Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsy. Security forces have experienced many deadly attacks at the hands of militants. The army has responded by conducting raids throughout North Sinai in an attempt to crackdown on armed militants and their supporters.
