Coptic coalition backs Sisi for president

A group of Egyptian Copts dubbed the "Coalition of Coptic Egypt" announced in a press conference Saturday its support for former Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi bid's for presidency.

A number of public figures attended as guests of honor, including Al-Azhar University professor Ahmed Korayema, artist Samir Eskandarani and Emad Gad, deputy director of the Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies.

"[Sisi] is a patriotic figure supported by most of the Egyptian people for taking Egypt out of the dark phase of the Brotherhood and crossing into a stage of hope and light, as well as for standing against the forces of 'black' terrorism and schemes that sought to destroy the Egyptian state," said coalition founder Fady Youssef.

During the press conference, Korayema talked about citizenship and Eskandarani about his stories with Copts.
