CAIRO, April 25 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Ishaq Dar expressed their aspiration for the convening of a second round of negotiations between the US and Iran.
They noted that such talks would help reach understandings that support the consolidation of a ceasefire, reduce escalation and create conditions conducive to ending the ongoing conflict.
This came during a phone call between the two ministers as part of ongoing consultation and coordination between their countries regarding regional developments and efforts aimed at containing tensions in the region.
The call addressed ways to advance the diplomatic track between the US and Iran, with both ministers affirming that dialogue and negotiation remain the optimal path to resolving the crisis.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of safeguarding freedom of international navigation and taking into account the security concerns of regional countries, particularly those of the Gulf states.
Both ministers emphasized the importance of continuing joint coordination and consultation in a manner that supports the diplomatic track, reduces tensions, facilitates the resumption of negotiations and promotes political solutions away from military escalation. (MENA)
