Drop in evening temperatures, rainfall across Egypt on Monday

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts that the weather on Monday will be slightly hot along the northern coasts, slightly hot to hot in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, northern Upper Egypt, and South Sinai and very hot in Southern Upper Egypt.

Temperatures will be moderate during the early part of the night, turning cool towards the end.

There is a chance of light rain—occasionally growing moderate and accompanied by thunderstorms—in parts of central and southern Upper Egypt.

This rainfall may intensify leading to flash floods in areas of central and South Sinai, the Gulf of Aqaba, and parts of the Red Sea Governorate at intermittent intervals.

Additionally, there will be a chance of light rain along the northern coasts and the northern Lower Egypt, which may become moderate in some areas.

The EMA advises light jackets

As the country is affected by an extension of the Red Sea depression, bringing with it rainfall of varying intensity—heavy enough in some areas to cause flash floods.

The EMA advised against wearing summer clothing during the late night and early morning hours, recommending instead a light jacket, taking into account for the difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures.

Expected temperatures for Monday:

  • Matrouh: 26C
  • Alexandria: 27C
  • Cairo: 30C
  • Hurghada, and Sharm El-Sheikh: 33C
  • Luxor: 37C
