Agriculture Ministry workers protest for permanent contracts

Dozens of temporary workers within the Agriculture Ministry's Land Reclamation Sector protested on Monday outside ministry headquarters in Dokki neighborhood, demanding permanent contracts and full financial rights for 323 employees.

"We have been working since 2001 on temporary contracts," Amr Gouda, a young temporary employee, told Al-Masry Al-Youm.

He called for those currently in temporary positions to be allowed to fill vacancies in the sector, given permanent positions according to their speciality.

The protesters stressed that despite staging many protests, the ministry officials have so far ignored their demands. They therefore called on the Agriculture Minister Essam Farid to intervene in the problem.
