All traffic diversions and alternative routes in Cairo and Giza for Grand Egyptian Museum opening

In total synchronization with the official inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) on Saturday, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced several traffic diversions across the greater Cairo and Giza areas.

These measures are being implemented to ensure maximum traffic fluidity, guide citizens efficiently to alternative routes, and manage the extensive motorcade movements associated with the historical event.

The ministry confirmed that necessary traffic services will be deployed to streamline movement and direct commuters to the alternative routes listed below:

Traffic diversions and alternative routes

  • Nile Street (Giza): Traffic heading from University Bridge Square up to the underside of the 15th of May Bridge must now take Al-Batal Ahmed Abdel Aziz Street.
  • Ring Road: Traffic descending from above Al-Salam must take the Al-Salam Tunnel ramp towards Gesr Al-Suez.
  • Nile Corniche Axis: Traffic traveling from the 15th of May Bridge up to Athar El-Nabi Square must use the Tahya Misr Axis.
  • Central Axis (6th of October City): Traffic moving from Juhayna Square toward the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road must take the Dahshur link road via the Oasis Road.
  • Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road: Traffic traveling from Sphinx Airport to the Egyptian Museum must take the service road toward the Dahshur link or ascend the Tahya Misr Axis.
  • The 26th of July Axis: Traffic coming from Lebanon Square toward Orabi Axis must take the Ring Road exit ramp toward the Western Arc.
