Armed forces chief Tantawi meets with Constitutional Court head

Head of Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces Field-Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi met with Minister of Justice Mamdouh Marei and Constitutional Court head Farouk Sultan on Sunday to discuss the legal and constitutional changes needed to achieve justice and constitutional legitimacy.

Tantawi also met with Central Bank Governor Farouk al-Oqda to discuss the current economic situation and available economic resources, stressing the importance of providing citizens with their basic needs.

According to informed sources, Tantawi also recently had a telephone conversation with Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

Israeli news reports said the conversation had revolved around reassurances that Egypt-Israel relations would remain normal despite the recent departure of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak.
