Arrest warrant against Morsy-era information minister

An arrest warrant against Morsy-era Information Minister Salah Abdel-Maqsoud was issued by East Cairo Prosecution to be interrogated on the incident of the takeover of state-owned broadcast vehicles by Morsy supporters.

In July, the supporters of deposed president Mohamed Morsy in Rabea al-Adaweya sit-in seized six broadcast vehicles belonging to the National Radio and Television Union dedicated for direct satellite broadcasting. The vehicles were stolen and the equipment was damaged, with loses estimated at LE 40 million.

The prosecution has previously ordered the imprisonment of the head of the engineering sector at the Radio Television Union pending further investigation into the case. He faces the charges of severely damaging public funds, in addition to graft.

Investigation claimed that he took advantage of his job by sending the events of Rabea al-Adaweya sit-in around the clock.

Some of the broadcast vehicles were discovered to be burned down after the dispersal of Rabea al-Adeweya sit-in mid-August.
