Border guard wounded by smugglers in Sinai

A border guard was shot and wounded by a gang in Sinai trying to smuggle Africans into Israel.

Sherif al-Masry Mohamed, 21, was on duty at the seventh international mark along the border, south of the Rafah and Karam Salem crossings.

When he tried to prevent the smugglers from approaching the international border, they shot at him, wounding him in the head. He was taken to Arish General Hospital for treatment, while the smugglers fled.
