Committee head: Mubarak still in military hospital for rib injury

Vice President of the Forensic Doctors Department Magda Helal has said that former President Hosni Mubarak is still at the Maadi Military Hospital undergoing treatment for one of his ribs.

Helal, who also heads the committee formed to examine Mubarak's health, said that the issue with Mubarak's rib is potentially life-threatening.  Helal added that his committee hadn't examined Mubarak since his transfer to the military hospital, and that he was last examined in Tora prison hospital.

According to Helal, Mubarak is suffering from two cracked ribs and a third fractured rib on his right side.

Helal said that Mubarak should stay at the military hospital for continued medical care, saying that the rib fracture could damage his lungs.

Prosecutor General Talaat Ibrahim agreed last month to transfer Mubarak to the Maadi Military Hospital for treatment after being medically examined by Helal's committee, which was formed by Ibrahim to monitor the former president's condition after his fall in a bathroom.
