Concerns over American Hepatitis C drug changed color

The three-member committee negotiating with the American company that produces a Hepatitis C drug expressed concern that the company is supplying a white color drug instead of the known yellow color sold in the United States, which delayed the registration of the drug in Egypt.

The committee told the Health Ministry that changing the color aims to prevent selling the drug outside public hospitals, yet the registry said this may affect the effectiveness of the drug.

The committee filed a complaint with the health minister, who ordered investigation into the matter and asked the registry to register the drug in the presence of representatives from the American company until he comes back from a meeting of the World Health Organization in Switzerland.
