Drone Strike sparks fire outside Barakah Nuclear Plant in Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi Media Office announced on Sunday that competent authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi have successfully responded to a fire that broke out in an electrical generator located outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra Region. The blaze was caused by a drone strike; no casualties or injuries have been recorded.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office emphasized that there has been absolutely no impact on radiological safety levels, noting that all necessary precautionary measures were immediately implemented.

Concurrently, the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) confirmed that the fire did not compromise the safety of the facility or the operational readiness of its core systems. The regulator assured that all units at the plant continue to operate normally.
