Egypt, Gabon sign five MoUs

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his Gabonese counterpart Ali Bongo signed five memorandums of understanding between the two countries during a joint news conference Thursday at the Ettihadeya Presidential Palace in Heliopolis, Cairo.
 
The first memorandum of understanding is related to the mechanism of political consultations between the two countries, the second is an executive protocol to the agreement of technical and cultural cooperation during 2016 – 2018, the third is in the field of vocational education, the fourth is an amended protocol of cooperation between the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) and the Gabonese Health Ministry on an Egyptian-Gabonese hospital operating in Gabon and the fifth is a protocol of cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry.
 
Sisi stressed in his speech the importance of cooperation between Egypt and Gabon in the field of health, especially in light of the success of the Egyptian-Gabonese hospital where a number of Egyptian doctors are working in Gabon.
 
Sisi also referred to cooperation in the fields of agriculture and fisheries, taking into account the large potential of Gabon in these sectors, and the possibility of taking advantage of Egyptian expertise to enhance agricultural productivity and contribute to the achievement of food security in Gabon.
 
Sisi also emphasized keenness to strengthen political coordination between the two countries in regional and international forums, adding that the two presidents discussed means of confronting terrorism, being a common threat to the countries of the African continent.
