Egyptian diver spearheads new tourism event in Red Sea

A new initiative entitled 'Long Live Egypt', will be spearheaded by renowned Egyptian diver Wael Omar to promote tourism in the country.
 
Omar has been attending training sessions with experts in preparation for the event which will take place in June. Seventeen European countries will participate in this projct to help boost tourism by developing the diving industry through the exploration of new diving spots 
 
Omar has been diving since he was 16 years old and decided to become a career diver in 2001.
 
He is known for completing the longest dive in the world when he resurfaced after 19 hours and 45 minutes from a 330 meter descent in the Red Sea.
 
Omar has also been authorized by the Rescue and Environmental Protection Society to establish a headquarters in Sharm el-Sheikh in order to help protect the environment and coral reefs.
