Erian: Egyptians will peacefully resist return of Mubarak regime

The Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) vice-chief Essam al-Erian said on Monday Egypt and the Arabs should support those opposing the "fascist bloody military coup" that overthrew President Mohamed Morsy last month.

Erian also claimed Egyptians will peacefully resist what he called the return of the Mubarak regime.

The FJP chief stressed that God would protect those protesting in support of Mohamed Morsy in their fight to restore rights and solidify the state's democratic institutions.

“Respecting the results of the ballot leads to tolerance, peace and transition,” he said, referring to the need to boost "foreign relations to reaise Egypt's interests above everything else."

Erian added that restoring Morsy, his legitimacy and constitution should mark the "starting point" for the Egyptian people.

“Egypt will not be a fascist country. The military will not run it. It will not turn into a failed country,” Erian said.

He also added that Egyptians would not be hoodwinked into “heading again to [the] ballot boxes…if their votes are wasted by tanks, media and opposition protests.”
