Foreign Ministry rejects request from Turkey to dispatch Turkish diplomats to Cairo

Egypt's Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that it rejected a request from Turkey to dispatch further diplomats to Cairo.
 
Egypt's Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy summoned Egypt's ambassador in Ankara ,Abdel Rahman Salah, to consult Turkey's summoning of Salah. The Turkish government summoned him after Egyptian security forces dispersed sit-ins of toppled President Mohamed Morsy's supporters using excessive force causing death and injury to hundreds of civilians.
 
Salah said his return to Turkey has to do with Turkey's policy changes toward Egypt. Salah told Al-Masry Al-Youm in a previous statement that Egypt was reevaluating its relations with Turkey.
 
Relations between Turkey and Egypt deteriorated after army leaders toppled Morsy, a recent ally of Turkey, in July 2013. Joint naval exercises that were scheduled for October between both countries were cancelled.
 
Egyptian officials accused Turkey of interfering in Egypt's internal affairs after Turkish officials condemned what they described as a coup against Egypt's democratically elected president.
