Intelligence in control of media before coup: Morsy adviser

Ahmed Abdel Aziz, media advisor to toppled President Mohamed Morsy, said Thursday in an interview with Al Jazeera Mubasher Misr that Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is a "conspirator and was able to play the role of the meek lamb."

"Sovereign bodies" led by General Intelligence controlled state TV as well as satellite channels before the military coup, Abdel Aziz also claimed.

"The coup leader Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is a conspirator and was able to play the role of the meek lamb. This is clear through his meetings with the president [Morsy]," said Abdel Aziz.

"Media was the launcher used to bombard Morsy by distorting his achievements and fraud."

"The presidential team never intervened to delete news in the official media, even if it was false," he stressed.

Abdel Aziz said he last saw Morsy on 3 July at the Republican Guard headquarters.
