Libyan official: Border crossings into Egypt coordinated

The head of the chief's office at the Musaid municipality in Libya, Mohamed Abdel Salam, said in remarks on Monday that decisions have been made on facilitating the border crossing into Egypt.

Abdel Salam said that chiefs from other municipalities, the deputy chief of borders and exits affairs Ahmed Baraka, as well as other officials and representatives of security authorities tackled during their meeting on Monday the proper procedures for crossing into Egypt after a recent agreement was made to open the borders and allow Libyans access to Egypt.

The security situation in areas of Musaid, Be’r al-Ash-hab and Tubruq was discussed after the border was officially opened from the Libyan side to allow people to cross into Egypt.  It has been agreed to draft lists in advance with the names and the number of passengers leaving from the three municipalities and entering Egypt.

Both sides of the border were opened to give trucks access into and out of the two countries.

It has also been agreed to allow ambulances into Egypt after they were forced to stop in neutral zones, Abdel Salam added. The attendees of the meeting additionally agreed to monitor food coming into Libya to ensure it is healthy and unspoiled.
