Monday sees very hot weather, thunder across Egypt

Meteorologists predict very hot weather on Monday during the daytime on Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, Upper Egypt, with moderately hot weather on the northern coasts.

By night time the weather will grow mild on Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt and the northern coasts, and moderate on Upper Egypt.

Temperatures predicted for the following cities are: 34C in Alexandria, 41C in Cairo and 43C in Qena, Luxor and Aswan.

Medium rainfall and some thunder is expected on Upper Egypt, the Red Sea mountains and South Sinai, with possible flooding.

Winds will be mostly northwestern and moderate across most parts of Egypt.

Experts note that the northern parts of the country are affected by a high-pressure area, centered east of the Mediterranean Sea, while the southern parts of the country are affected by an extension of the Sudan low-pressure area.

Waves in the Mediterranean Sea will be moderate, ranging between 1.5 and two meters in height, with northeastern surface winds, while waves in the Red Sea will be low to moderate, ranging between one and 1.5 meters in height, with northwestern surface winds.

Meteorologists predict a heatwave for Egypt this week, with maximum temperatures in Cairo exceeding 40C.

Temperature will continue to rise on Tuesday, with very hot weather prevailing across Egypt and hot weather on the northwestern coasts, northeastern coasts and central Sinai.

Rains will be light in some areas on South Sinai, the Red Sea mountains and northern Upper Egypt with occasional thunder, and flooding over at southern Upper Egypt.

Winds will moderate and sometimes active on Cairo, the northeastern coasts and central Sinai.
