Mubarak requests to vote in referendum

Ousted President Hosni Mubarak has submitted a formal request to the Higher Elections Committee asking to vote in the constitutional referendum, according to his lawyer Farid Al-Deeb.

The total number of eligible voters in the referendum is 52,742,139 voters, spread over 30,317 sub-committees, while 13,867 judges are monitoring the project.

Voting starts from 9am until 9pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, 14 and 15 January.

Mubarak is facing a retrial for allegedly murdering protesters during the 2011 uprising against his rule, as well as other charges related to financial corruption and abuse of power.
