NCHR requests information on pro-Morsy dispersals

The National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) on Wednesday called on key government bodies to release information about the violent dispersals of two Muslim Brotherhood-linked sit-ins in Cairo in August.

The NCHR also requested information from the emergency services, Forensic Medical Authority and public prosecution.

Information regarding the Abu Zaabal prisoner incident, in which dozens of detainees died in mysterious circumstances, was also requested.

The NCHR also appealed to anyone who has information about these incidents to come forward.

NCHR chairman Mohamed Fayek said fact-finding committees are struggling to obtain details from official sources.“We were going to issue a report in two weeks on the events that took place after 30 June,” he said. “Now we will have to wait until the government provides us with the information.”

He also said that the council requested information from the Freedom and Justice Party so as to compare it with official reports.
