Negotiations over registering new Hepatitic C virus medicine to conclude

The Health Ministry is about to conclude its negotiations with an intenational pharmaceutical company, in order to register Viekira, a new drug capable of curing the Hepatitis C genotype 1 infection.
 
Registering the medicine will make Egypt the first country in the Middle East to introduce it.
 
The medicine, which has been approved to treat the first and fourth genotypes of virus C, is considered the safest drugs for patients suffering from renal failure.
 
The drug was earlier approved by the European Commission and the US Food and Drug Administration.
