No criminal activity suspected in Central Security truck crash, say police

So far there is no suspicion of criminal involvement in the Central Security truck crash that led to the death of 21 conscripts, said Abdel Nasser al-Tayeb, the head of the North Sinai prosecution.

The truck crashed when the driver lost control on a slope in the central Sinai Peninsula.

Prime Minister Hesham Qandil, who visited the injured victims in the Police Hospital in Nasr City, said the accident was only a “road crash, and it is not true that masked men were behind the accident.”

He added that he gave instructions to provide medical treatment to the injured.

Police and army forces are conducting a joint operation against militants in Sinai after an attack on a security checkpoint in Sinai in early August led to the death of 16 border guards.
