Pro-Morsy alliance calls for fresh protests

The Muslim Brotherhood-led National Alliance to Support Legitimacy has called for a new week of protests against President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who removed former leader Mohamed Morsy from office in 2013.

In a statement on Thursday, the Islamist alliance said Sisi had failed over the past 11 months to run the country.

“The people will not remain silent towards repression," read the statement. "Horrible violations against girls in prisons have put Egypt’s dignity on the edge.”

“The revolution will not remain silent about the genocidal and vengeful decisions taken against the January revolution,” the statement added.

NASL also said it was preparing for “a gradual escalation of revolutionary mobility."
