Public and private sectors in telecom partnerships up to LE7 billion

Giant information technology projects are to be carried out via public and private sectors partnerships (PPP) worth of from LE500 million to LE7 billion, according to Minister of Communication and Information Technology Atef Helmy.

In statements on Wednesday, Helmy said the planned projects are designed to grant the information technology sector more opportunities to integrate with other economic sectors.

Egypt, as part of the projects, will witness its first pilot project for cloud computing starting January 2015, Helmy said, adding that five technological zones are to be declared within weeks.

The government will sign a cooperation protocol with the United Arab Emirates to provide information technology training for 10,000 specialists, the minister added.
