Revolutionaries launch campaign to clean up slum areas

A group of 25 January revolutionaries have mounted a campaign entitled “For the love of Egypt”, allocating two days weekly to clean up slums and organize traffic in downtown and other congested areas.

Mohamed Mohsen, a campaign member, said “We first thought how to take advantage of the revolution's benefits to maintain the entire society’s high morale. As a result we came up with this campaign.”

He added, “It was hard to do this on a daily basis, especially as most of us are busy with studying. After discussion, we agreed on gathering on two days per week so we can still attend classes.”

Mohsen said most citizens offered help. “Egyptians are great people, contrary to what has been said. We saw no violations by car drivers at downtown. We were amazed at the high spirit of commitment, despite police absence.”
