Russian tourism official expects resumption of flights by February 2016

Vice president of Russia's Association of Tourist Operators Dmitry Gorin expressed hope that flights between Russia and Egypt would resume by January or February 2016 at the latest.

"We do not see a current reason for the continuation of contraints on travel to Egypt," said Gorin.

In a related context, Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou announced he will be visiting a number of Arab countries, including Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, to launch the "This is Egypt" campaign to promote tourism. Arab tourists to Egypt are estimated to be 18 percent.

Russia, Britain and other countries suspended flights to Egypt after a Russian plane crash in Sinai in November killed all passengers on board.
