Search efforts continue for fishermen off Matrouh coast

Armed Forces rescue teams are continuing search efforts for the 10-member crew of a fishing boat that sank off the coast of Marsa Matrouh Monday.

Matrouh Governor Ahmed al-Hayatmy said the Air Force is leading the search from the air for the missing fishermen, while border guards are monitoring the coast, particularly the area between Ras al-Hekma and Dabaa.

Rescue forces found the empty boat Tuesday.

The vessel "Zamzam" set sail three days ago with a crew guessed to be from Kafr al-Sheikh Governorate. Its engine broke down amid inclement weather and rough seas that have prompted warnings from maritime officials this week and halted boat traffic in some areas.
