Second death from fight over sexual harassment

A young man in the Cairo district of Gammaliya on Tuesday died on Wednesday after being injured in a fight that broke out between families after a man from one family sexually harassed the fiancée from the other, raising the death toll from the row to two.

The Gammaliya investigations chief received notification from Hussein University Hospital that the hospital received a young man’s dead body and six injured victims.

Authorities arrested a number of the participants in the fight who were imprisoned pending investigations into charges of murder, attempted murder, intimidation of citizens, theft and the possession of unlicensed firearms.

The families of the dead victims refused to have the bodies dissected.

According to security authorities, the man was in the intensive care unit due to a serious injury from a firearm. The prosecution decided to depend on the medical examiner's report without dissecting the body and ordered it to be buried afterwards.

Several suspects said they were not part of the fight and were only passing by when the argument erupted. Eyewitnesses said they were surprised by the fight and that supporters of both sides joined the fight and exchanged fire, frightening passers-by.
