Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry made Thursday telephone conversations with Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Sadek, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf.
Shoukry also phoned Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Djiboutian Foreign Minister Mahmoud Ali Youssouf and Kenyan Foreign Minister Alfred Mutua.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said in press statements that the contacts come as part of constant consultation and coordination, in addition to arranging for an extraordinary meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers about Sudan and Syria, slated for May 7.
Abu Zeid added that the contact with the Kenyan foreign minister is emanating from consultation and coordination regarding the Sudanese crisis, with special focus on ceasefire efforts and ways of ensuring the delivery of humanitarian and relief assistance to people in war-hit Sudan.
The conversation tackled as well coordinating efforts to solve the crisis within Arab and African frameworks, IGAD
bloc and Sudan’s neighboring states, according to the spokesman.
