Colonel General Sidqy Sobhy was sworn in as defense minister in front of interim president Adly Mansour Thursday replacing his predecessor and presidential hopeful Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Sobhy attended Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb Cabinet's weekly meeting held Thursday at the General Investment Authority.
Mansour issued a presidential decree promoting Major General Mahmoud Hegazy as colonel general and chief of staff of the armed forces replacing Sobhy. Mansour promoted Sobhy on Wednesday 26 March to colonel general.
