Sisi in Russia visit on 25th August

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will visit Russia from August 25 to 27 to “reinforce bilateral ties”, presidency spokesperson Alaa Youssef said Thursday.

“The visit will secure an opportunity for reinforcing cooperation with Russia in several fields, especially on the economic level,” Youssef stated, describing Moscow as “one of Egypt’s most important trade partners”. He said talks between Sisi and Russia’s Vladimir Putin will discuss pumping extra Russian investments in Egypt.

Sisi’s program also includes meetings with senior Russian officials and heads of major corporations, Youssef said.

Sisi’s government has sought enhanced military and economic cooperation with Moscow with a string of economic and military deals since Sisi’s election in 2014. Trade exchange between both countries is estimated by more than US$5 billion.

Sisi visited Russia twice in August 2014 and May 2015. Putin visited Egypt in February 2015 where both leaders signed an initial deal for the construction of Egypt's first nuclear-powered, electricity-generating plant.
