Sources: 4 injured as bomb targets pro-Sisi rally in Cairo

Four people, including two police officers were injured in Cairo early Sunday when a bomb exploded at a rally by supporters of former defense minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's presidential bid, AFP reported on Sunday, quoting security sources

The agency has not yet specified the area where the rally was organized, but noted that the attack, which targered a platform set up by Sisi backers, was the first to target an electoral rally days before Egyptians cast the ballots in the persidential elections slated for 26 and 27 May.

Sisi's sole competitor is liberal Nasserist politician and former MP Hamdeen Sabbahi.

Security authorities have been struggling to confront a wave of bomb attacks that killed hunderds of civilians and security officers since the army overthrew former president Mohamed Morsy last year. Responsbility for the attacks have mostly been claimed by Islamist militants.
