Sources deny corruption case against Gamal Mubarak closed

Judicial sources denied Thursday reports that corruption charges against former President Mubarak’s son Gamal have been dropped or settled.

Reports had claimed that Gamal Mubarak had returned the LE3 million he allegedly received in illegal bonuses while he represented the Arab African International Bank on the board of the Central Bank in exchange for corruption charges not being filed against him.

The sources said that investigations in the case are ongoing, and that Mubarak’s attorney submitted a request to drop the case in exchange for LE3 million, which the prosecution would not consider until the investigations have been completed.
