Tagammu Party protests in solidarity with church victims

The Tagammu Party organized an evening protest on Monday in solidarity with the victims of Saturday's Alexandria church bombing. Protesters held candles and banners reading “Egypt for Egyptians” and “We are all endangered by sectarianism."

Protesters also chanted, “Whatever they say… there’s security in our country,” and “Long live the crescent and the cross.”

Tagammu Party Assistant Secretary-General Mohamed Farag expressed party solidarity with Copts, adding that party leaders and members will attend masses held on the eve of 7 January to celebrate Christmas.

Farag referred to Tagammu youth members’ willingness to form “human shields” in front of churches on Christmas eve.
