Tamarod has reportedly backtracked on their support for Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as president, saying now he should not to run in the presidential elections in order to preserve his image as a “hero of the people who fulfilled his duties to the nation.”
On Tuesday, the movement posted on Facebook that Egypt after the revolution should be governed by a civilian president elected by a democratic mechanism.
The movement also reiterated its call for presidential elections to be held before the constitutional referendum.
