Tamarod calls on Sisi not to run for president, prefers a civilian

Tamarod has reportedly backtracked on their support for Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as president, saying now he should not to run in the presidential elections in order to preserve his image as a “hero of the people who fulfilled his duties to the nation.”

On Tuesday, the movement posted on Facebook that Egypt after the revolution should be governed by a civilian president elected by a democratic mechanism.

The movement also reiterated its call for presidential elections to be held before the constitutional referendum.
