Security forces in Beni Suef defended the police station with tear gas on Thursday when dozens of Fashn City residents attempted to storm it in protest against the recent killing of a high school student.

Residents allegedly attempted to storm the station twice on Wednesday evening.

Police officers claim that clashes erupted between residents and the officers, leading to the residents throwing Molotov cocktails at the security forces. Police responded by shooting tear gas canisters and firing blank shots to disband the protesters.

Ahmed Ali Salem, a student at the Fashn Technical School, was allegedly stabbed to death during a fight with fellow students. His brother was wounded in the same fight. Police have arrested three suspects in the incident.
