Justice Ministry official spokesperson Ahmed Rushdy Salam revealed that the Illicit Gains Authority issued a decree banning Major General Ismail al-Shaer from traveling, due to graft accusationsleveled against the former head of Cairo Security Directorate.

Salam told Al-Masry Al-Youm that no instructions have been issued to seize Shaer’s assets, since investigations are ongoing.

Left-oriented news website Al-Badil reported in March that regulators began listing the property of Shaer and his relatives upon notification by the prosecutor general after the request from the Illicit Gains Authority.

Shaer was one of six assistants to former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly acquitted in June of charges of conspiring to kill protesters during the uprising in January and February 2011.
